Gosford Removals and Storage

THE STRESS-LESS MOVING GUIDE - HOW TO CREATE A SUCCESSFUL MOVE

Begin to prepare for the actual ‘Removal Day’

..Create a Moving Day ‘Sanity Saver’ box – or ‘Priority Box’. Gosford Furniture Removals and Karis Removals and Storage will supply you with a sticker to mark this box specifically for the things you need when you first arrive at your new home.

WE suggest tools you may need eg a hammer, shifting spanner, screwdriver, torch, possibly even a light globe or two and toilet paper. An extension cord, plastic bags and cleaning materials are also on the ‘must have’ list.

It’s also a relief to be able to find a kettle, coffee, tea, sugar, carton of long life milk, mugs and a few spoons. You may also want to pack some snack food in the box.

It’s also a great place to put those smaller items – cords for the TV, keys, nuts and bolts etc if the removalist hasn’t found a better place to put them.

..A second set of priority boxes with fresh bed linen, pillows and doonas, towels, PJ’s, toiletries is also a lifesaver. The last thing you want at the end of your day is to not be able to find bed linen and things you need to have a good night’s sleep.

This is also where your removal notebook comes in very handy!

Use your imagination. What would you like immediate access to that first few hours after you arrive in your new home. Clearly mark those boxes and even put a coloured sticker so you and the removalist can easily identify them.

It will make moving day a lot easier.

..Mark these boxes: ‘Priority Box -On last: Off First’.

THE DAY BEFORE

Stress reduction

There are some key things that you can do on the day before your removal, ensuring that everything is “ready to go” on the day.

Most importantly, check with your solicitor and the real estate agent regarding

Once you know those details:

Confirm pick-up time, the day before

We schedule the men to start the next day, so they can have the house loaded and ready to move into the new home based on the settlement time we are given.

If you ring the solicitor and find out there may be a delay in settlement, please let the removalist know as soon as you know. As the men are scheduled to arrive at a certain time, unless adequate notice is given, if they arrive and are not able to load (or unload) it will be necessary to charge for their waiting time as they will still need to be paid.

Please give as much notice of change in load / unload time to avoid extra charges.

How do we pay?

..Payment will be arranged prior to the removal. This can be by cash, bank cheque or credit card. The terms of payment are on the Gosford Furniture Removal and Karis Removals contract.

Things that could make the move easier for you

..When you disconnect the computer, stereo and TV equipment, label each connection so you know what goes where!

..If you can, keep your washing up to date.

..If any clothing is going into storage, make sure

1) it is washed and clean

2) it is fully dry - before you store it.

..Clean the fridge out and then place items you need back in there. It will be ready to be switched off the next morning after your perishables have been placed in an esky and just require a quick wipe over.

..If the fridge is going into store, it is very important that it is thoroughly cleaned. Any food residue will create a mould and make more work when you move it into your new home.

..If you have goods going into store, never store food as it encourages vermin. Remember NEVER to store food unless it is canned.

..It’s handy to keep a couple of empty milk or juice bottles and fill them with water and freeze. They can then keep your food frozen during the move. If you are moving more than a few hours away, give the perishables to your neighbours.

..Organise any items you’ll need to take in your car. Remember keys, any medicines, jewellery, and important papers.
