THE DAY OF THE MOVE
After discussing with our crew leader the way the day will run, the men will be happy to focus on loading your goods carefully and efficiently. Once they have finished loading, they will let you know and you will do a final ‘walk through’ to check everything is to your satisfaction. Some things that you can do when they arrive are:
Take last minute things out of the fridge
Check the cupboards, especially under the sink
Check the dishwasher is empty
Ensure the hoses and everything in the yard is ready
Be ready
Our men will dismantle the beds. If you decide to save time and do them yourselves, keep all screws, bolts etc in clearly marked, sealed plastic bags. Place them into your Priority box.
Check that hoses to the washing machine have been removed and are coiled inside the bowl. This can be done by our men if you haven’t the time or are unable to.
Anything you can do, will make the loading much faster on the day, but we are more than happy to assist with anything you can’t do. However, larger items, such as swing sets and trampolines will need to be taken down before the removal day.
Animals
Animals are especially sensitive to changes on moving day (particularly cats). Early on moving day, before the truck arrives, safely tie up your dog with food and water access and cage the cat. Cats particularly, have a tendency of going into hiding, and are difficult to find when you are ready to leave. Taking the precaution of placing the cat in the cage the previous evening will avoid you worrying on the removal day.
Be available
It’s really important that you can be on hand to answer queries and walk through your house with the driver before the men load your goods. This allows you to understand how the day will run and also for the men to assess the best way to load the removal van.
It is also a time when the crew leader will note any pre-existing marks on your furniture and have you sign the condition report. If goods are going into store, then you will be asked to sign off the inventory for the goods that were loaded by Gosford Furniture Removals.
Be organised
Be sure to confirm your new address with the driver. If the journey is extended, be sure to give him a clear rundown of your own plans ie. the number of your mobile phone and who will be there to unlock the house as well as the time the removalists can begin to unload.
Be careful
Before you leave, check every part of the house – inside and out with the removalist. Look in cupboards, especially the kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Make sure all paintings and clocks have been taken off the walls.
Walk around all rooms, garage, storage areas and yard.
Check that windows and doors are locked, alarm systems set (if appropriate), that lights are out, taps turned off and keys safely transferred.
Now leave it to us to safely take your goods to your new home.
If you want the removal truck to go ahead and start to unload, remember to give a copy of where you want the furniture located, to the driver. If you have clearly marked the boxes by writing on the tape which room you would like them placed in, it will make the unloading and unpacking process even easier.
